As some of you may have noticed we have slightly altered our HotPot Maxi. in order to increase it’s durability, the fibres have been pressed together a bit stronger. Thus creating a more compact and firm product that will last longer. All shipments that have left our company from the 3rd week in February contain these improved pots.
Zoals een aantal van u wellicht al weet, is de samenstelling van de HotPot Maxi recentelijk aangepast. De vezel waarvan deze wordt gemaakt, is bij de laatste productie iets harder geperst dan tot nu toe het geval was, om daarmee een sterkere HotPot te kunnen leveren. In die opzet zijn we geslaagd, en alle Maxi HotPots die sinds de 3e week februari ons magazijn verlaten, zijn van deze nieuwe kwaliteit.
Quick firing
These new HotPots heat up a lot quicker than the old ones. You might consider this an improvement, but please note that there are risks involved in heating up your glass too fast. Although you could achieve a full fuse after just 7 to 8 minutes, it’s much better to take it slow. 12 to 13 minutes at 800 Watts is preferred over 8 minutes at 1000 Watts. Especially when you fire larger pieces, which is no problem in the improved Hotpot, the risk of stress-induced problems increases dramatically. In other words, your glass will break. We strongly advise you to inform customers about this.
Snellere stooktijd
Deze nieuwe samenstelling heeft echter een bijkomend gevolg, namelijk dat deze HotPot sneller is dan voorheen. Dat lijkt voor velen een voordeel, maar we willen iedereen toch graag attenderen op de risico’s van het te snel stoken van glas. Hoe groter het stuk glas is dat u in de Hotpot smelt hoe groter het risico. De nieuwe Maxi HotPot kan gemakkelijk een stuk glas van 5 centimeter smelten binnen 7 tot 8 minuten. Wij adviseren echter om, vooral bij grotere stukken, pas na ca. 12 minuten een volledige versmelting te hebben. Dit betekent dus dat de gebruiker een lager wattage moet hanteren dan voorheen. Wij verzoeken u dringend om dit advies door te geven aan klanten, om teleurstellingen te voorkomen.
Tight fit
This shouldn’t be a big problem, but we’d like to inform you about it none the less. Lids from the first batch of our new Hotpots might get stuck to the bottom sometimes. Please check your new deliveries before firing the pots in a kiln. Keep the lid on the bottom and gently twist it round a few times. The black coating inside the lid is quite rough and you can easily “sand off” a bit of the rim. We do apologize for this inconvenience, but it is a temporary problem. The manufacturing mould has been altered to make sure it doesn’t occur in the future.
Strakke aansluiting
Een tijdelijk nadeel van de huidige productie is dat er een aantal HotPots zijn waarvan het deksel erg dicht op de bodemrand aansluit. Dit kan als gevolg hebben dat tijdens de opwarming het deksel enigszins vast komt te zitten op de bodem, wat natuurlijk niet wenselijk is. Wij raden u daarom aan om alle hotpots van deze nieuwe partij hierop te controleren. Potten die strak aansluiten, zijn heel eenvoudig aan te passen, door het deksel en de bodem aan aantal malen op elkaar te draaien. De zwarte coating fungeert dan als een schuurmiddel en op die manier schuurt u een minimale hoeveelheid vezel van de bodem af.
Wij bieden onze excuses voor dit eventuele ongemak aan en zullen toekomstige potten met een ruimere aansluiting laten produceren.
